When you step on the shores of Lake Ohrid, you feel the smell of history that reaches deep into the past. Legends say that there are more than 365 churches and monasteries here, making Ohrid one of the most important religious centers of the Balkans. Visit the Church of Saint Sophia, a masterpiece of Byzantine architecture, or make your way to Samoil's Fortress to enjoy spectacular views of the lake and surrounding mountains.

Plan and program

Day 1 - Banja Luka - Sarajevo - Uzice

Departure from Banja Luka at 7:00 p.m. from the old bus station (Doboj 9:00 p.m., Zenica 10:45 p.m., Sarajevo 11:45 p.m.). Night drive through Serbia and Macedonia with stops along the way for rest and border formalities

Day 2 - Skopje - Ohrid

Continue driving via Užice, Čačak, Niš, Vranje and Kumanovo to Skopje, the Macedonian capital. Arrival in the morning, meeting with a local guide, going on a city tour; old railway station, monument and house of Mother Teresa, stone bridge from the 6th century, Daut Pashin Hamam from the 15th century, church of St. Spasa, Kale fortress, Old Skopje bazaar, Mustafa Pasha mosque, modern part of the city, monuments to Alexander the Great and Philip II... Free time after sightseeing. Continue driving through Tetovo, Gostivar, through Mavrovo National Park to Ohrid - Ohrid is one of the oldest European settlements on the UNESCO World Heritage List, with a world-famous collection of icons. The natural tectonic lake with pebble beaches is among the deepest in Europe

Day 3 - Ohrid

Breakfast. Tour of Ohrid accompanied by an expert local guide; the narrow streets of the old town with typical architecture, the Ohrid Bazaar, the monument to Cyril and Methodius, Golna Porta, the church of St. Sofia, the monastery of the Virgin of Perivlepta, Samuel's fortress (which offers a wonderful view of the city and the lake), the church of St. Ivan Kanea (built on a cliff)... Return to the main square, free time for rest, walking, shopping... Followed by the possibility of a one-hour boat cruise on Lake Ohrid (recommended!). Rest of the day free for personal needs. Overnight stay.

Day 4 - Ohrid - Optional trip to St. NAUM

Breakfast. In the early afternoon, an optional excursion along the shores of Lake Ohrid to St. On purpose. On leaving Ohrid, stop at the famous Biljana springs; a short tour, free time for photography... Continue driving to the Monastery of St. Naum. Tour of the interior accompanied by an expert local guide; scenes from the life of St. are particularly impressive. Naum and his miracles that are located above his tomb. They are passed down from generation to generation and are considered a miracle of invention. Free time follows, which we recommend spending in the wonderful ambience of the famous national restaurant "Ostrovo", located on an islet in the middle of the lake near the source of the river Crni Drim. Return to Ohrid, free time for personal needs, rest at the hotel... Overnight.

Day 5 - Ohrid - Bitola - BIH

Breakfast. Check-out from the hotel, departure for BiH. A pleasant drive through Bitola, a city sung in over 500 songs, at the foot of Pelister, which was created near ancient Heraclea. A panoramic tour of the city, a walking tour of the old city center and free time for personal needs. A pleasant ride through Skopje, and further along the same itinerary as on arrival. Estimated arrival in the late evening.
